Schedule ISS student placements and notify those who need to know

In-school suspension is challenging to manage.  Each time a student is assigned to ISS five to ten staff members in the school must be notified.  In response, many of them will be required to submit assignments in a timely manner. A few other staff members are typically notified so they can better intervene with the child.  ISS Manager handles the notifications.

In addition, assignments from teachers are often sent late. Often the time needed by the student to complete assigned work is much less than their stay in ISS.  With idle time, students get restless and are more likely to cause problems. ISS Manager keeps track of assignments and facilitates follow-through.

ISS can be a perfect time for students to reflect and learn from their misbehaviors. ISS Manager includes sixty character education lessons which also are also designed to develop academic vocabulary.  Select a lesson based upon the student’s offense or what will most benefit that individual’s growth.

  • A simple, online “Placement to ISS” form is completed.
  • The student is added to an online ISS Roll.
  • Automatically notify necessary teachers and other school personnel of the student placement
  • Automatically notify teachers for assignment requests.
  • Automatically notify parents of the student placement in ISS.
  • Easily keep track of student ISS attendance.
  • Allow other faculty members to view ISS Roll in real-time to see if a missing student is currently in ISS.

Track student assignments to ensure productive ISS time

  • Teachers of the assigned student receive an email notifying them of the student’s placement and requesting assignments for the student.
  • Assignments are easily entered through a web form.
  • At any given time it is easy to see which teachers have and have not submitted assignments.
  • Reminders can efficiently be sent by the ISS supervisor and/or administrators reminding teachers to send work for a student in ISS.
  • It is easy to review the rigor and other qualities of the work teachers assign.
  • All of this data is archived for future reference (for instance, when a parent or child claims no work was sent to ISS) and for teachers to reuse as appropriate.

Encourage reflection with 60 Character Education lessons

  • Take advantage of a teachable moment to get students to reflect on any of sixty key concepts in Character Education.
  • Learn more about these students and issues that may be affecting their performance and other aspects of their well-being.
  • Lessons can be completed by the student and assessed by personnel completely online, or they can be printed and completed using pen & paper.
  • Students in ISS are kept busy on purposeful lessons that just may discourage them from a repeat visit to your school’s disciplinary settings!
