Wing Ding To Make That Cycle Sing

EdConnections Posted by Dan S. Martin
What a blazing hot summer it has been across our country.  Here in the DFW metroplex we have experienced the hottest summer in our region's recorded history.  The story has been the same in many parts of our country.

I intended to get an early start that morning.  To beat the sun...if only by a few hours.  As always, despite my desire to ride fewer hours per day on this trip---to take it easy---I only had a couple of days to get to Knoxville, TN for the largest Honda Gold Wing gathering of the year.  Wing Ding, they call it.  I believe this was the 33rd Annual gathering.  Thousands upon thousands of Honda Cadillacs---I mean Honda Gold Wings (the Cadillac of motorcycles)---converge on a host city each summer.

A few years ago, I rode through the Rockies to a Wing Ding event in Billings, Montana.  From Dallas over to Albuquerque and straight up the Rockies...through Telluride, CO (I love that place)...and on to Big Sky Country.  It was an adventure.  It was an experience.

This summer's ride to Knoxville for Wing Ding was an important stop in a more important journey further north.  I was riding north to Toledo, Ohio to leave my "Cadillac" in the hands of two people who have now likely become friends for life.  They are bringing the Cycle of Education to life!
