Pass It On Education Content: Changing Education Paradigms

EdConnections Posted by Dan S. Martin
This is a remarkable 11-minute video illustration that originated from a one-hour speech delivered in 2008 by Sir Ken Robinson, "Changing Education Paradigms."  It raises many powerful questions in a very accessible, entertaining way!

If you want something to change, measure it. Regularly.

What should we measure to move education more in the direction that Ken Robinson advocates?

Collaboration is a good start. If we gave grades for collaboration, we might get better at it. Parents would want to see these grades go up. And one way to measure it is to ask the other students that one collaborates with how well he collaborates.

Can we give grades on divergent thinking? Or originality? Or creativity? I would think these would be very difficult to measure objectively. And there is some question as to whether they can be taught, whether they're measured or not.

So, what would you measure?
